History
Benestad was founded by engineer Harald Benestad in 1973, in Lierskogen just outside of Oslo. Since then, our company has delivered a range of products to customers in the oil and gas, medical and defence industries. In the later years we have also developed products for the renewables and aerospace sectors.

We developed our core technology of sealing glass to metal throughout the 1970s and 1980s. We started developing glass/ceramic-to-metal sealed power penetrators in the early nineties. In 1991, we supplied high voltage penetrators for several pioneer subsea projects in the North Sea. In 1998, we were responsible for the complete delivery of power penetrators to the first-ever subsea separation unit – the Troll Pilot project. This included penetrators for wet-mate connectors and booster pumps.
Since our inception, we have built a track record of zero accidents and failures from our deliveries.
We have been a wholly owned subsidiary of Aker Solutions since 2015. In 2021, our production facilities and offices moved to Tranby Technology Centre to grow the company even further.
